The atmosphere is the layer of air or gases that go around the Earth. It sheilds everthing inside the Earth by absorbing ultra-violet light, warming the planet, and help keep the tempurature in check. Without the atmosphere the other spheres would be heavily affected.´╗┐source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atmosphere_of_Earth Anonymous sources, Atmosphere of the Earth, Wikipedia, last published on October 19, 2010, page 1. Without the atmosphere most of the biosphere, excluding the bacteria that can live without air, would die because the ultra-violet light would get through and there would be no oxygen. The hydrosphere would be affected also because the atmosphere helps move oxygen into the water that makes waves and it plays a part in the water cycle. The geosphere would be affected without the atmosphere because the atmosphere cools the Earth in places where volcanoes erupt.
